Retention and Expansion

In partnership with The Borough of Hanover and Penn Township, the Economic Alliance recently released the 2012 Economic Development Plan for Hanover Borough and Penn Township. The 2012 Plan is an update to an initial study released in 2002. Through the last ten years, the Borough, Township and Economic Alliance have worked to implement the recommendations as identified in the 2002 Study. The goals of the plan are to increase regional cooperation and support, enhance the quality of life in the Hanover area, maintain and improve the community character and best serve area businesses and residents.

Home to Nationally Recognized Brands

The Borough of Hanover and Penn Township, located in the southwestern region of York County, invest in a full time York County Economic Alliance staff person to serve their economic and community development goals. These goals include retaining and expanding Hanover’s hearty industrial base, renewing Hanover’s historic downtown, planning for economic development needs and partnering with community organizations for the benefit of the Hanover region.

Hanover is York County’s second largest population center and is home to nationally recognized brands such as Hanover Foods, Snyder’s-Lance and Utz Quality Foods. A profile of Penn Township and The Borough of Hanover features key information on the area including demographics, workforce and labor, top employers, and the vision for downtown Hanover.
