The York County Economic Alliance (YCEA) is proud to announce Jeff Hines as the 2021 Business Achievement Honoree, and will be recognized July 20th with an event held outdoors at York Water Company’s Reservoir Park. Click here for a message from Jeff!

Known for his leadership of the York Water Company for 30 years, Jeff retired in March 2019 as President & CEO, a title he held since 2008. In his tenure, Jeff was proud to have kept the company community-based and independent. The water company, founded in 1816, is the oldest investor-owned company in the nation.

Jeff has a longstanding history of community support, and even in retirement, continues to make things happen. For example, he took over as chairman of the York College of Pennsylvania board of trustees in 2019. Jeff is a lover of the outdoors, often seen hiking, running, canoeing or on his ElliptiGO along the Heritage Rail Trail accompanied by his wife of 28 years, Patti Stirk. Patti also own and operate Small Star Art House in Downtown York. They found a silver lining over the last year’s pandemic, by using that time to travel (with their beloved cat) around the Country in their refurbished transit van.

“Honoring Jeff is our true privilege,” added Kevin Schreiber, president and CEO of the YCEA. Jeff’s leadership has been as much an institution in York as the York Water Company itself. His career has been synonymous with service above self, to our country and this County. We look forward to shining a light upon that commitment with this prestigious recognition.”

This award is presented to an individual who through creativity, perseverance and dedication has developed a successful enterprise in York County; whose efforts have created jobs and opportunities; whose high moral and ethical values have set a standard of excellence, and someone who embodies leadership and a passion for our community and its citizens.

Past recipients include including Louis Appell Jr., Art Glatlfelter, Bob Pullo, Bob Kinsley, Carolyn Warman, Larry Miller, Mike Kochenour, Congressman Bill Goodling, and two Pennsylvania Governors, George Leader and Tom Wolf. The most recent awardee was Bill Shipley in 2019..

“When I reflect on the criteria the YCEA established to select their annual Business Achievement awardee, I can think of none more deserving, nor who more completely embodies the character of this prestigious award, than Jeff Hines,” said JT Hand, President and CEO of The York Water Company.  “His legacy is all around us, through his leadership and dedication to York County and our Company, and the investment he has made in the people and organizations that sustain our Community.”

“Often times, great leaders are quietly doing the good work our community needs,” added William T. Yanavitch II, chair of the board of the YCEA. “We value the opportunity to celebrate those leaders, and thank them for their dedication to YoCo. We know this event will be like no other – combining Jeff’s passions in the community to be a true celebration of good work, leadership, and a love for York.”

The dinner will be held on Tuesday, July 20 at Reservoir Park, a York Water Company property. This outdoor event will feature a cocktail reception from 5-6 p.m., and dinner and program beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets will be available for purchase on the YCEA website in coming weeks.
