Special Initiatives

We Make Visions Happen.

The YCEA always strives to be ahead of the curve when it comes to strategic development or initiatives which will enhance our local economy.  We maintain an internal list of projects and ideas which are on the horizon and should be further championed.  These ideas are constantly evaluated based upon criteria such as shovel-readiness, funding availability, infrastructure availability and tangible/intangible benefits to the area and its residents.

Initiatives

Projects range from items such as traffic adjustments and redevelopment to neighborhood enhancements to tourism and technology enhancements.  If you have an idea for something great, or an idea for a project which could enhance YoCo, please reach out to Silas Chamberlin, Vice President, Economic & Community Development.

Codorus Creek Project

The Codorus Creek has been the focus of several revitalization efforts over the past 50 years.  YCEA’s Codorus Creek Beautification Initiative moves these design efforts forward by hydraulically modeling the re-envisioned creek channel in the City of York and Spring Garden Township to improve public access, stormwater mitigation, ecological habitat, and urban flood control. This engineering effort by local partners Buchart Horn and C.S. Davidson is integral to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers compliance path, ensuring the design exceeds current flood prevention and maintenance viability while bringing new life to our Codorus.
