Carol Hill-Evans, incumbent for State Representative – 95th District

How would you describe the spirit of the district you are running to represent?

The 95th district has always had a “can-do” spirit. We believe that we do the most and best with what we’re given.  We are welcoming, energetic and proud.

What is a major takeaway from 2020 that you believe will influence policy in the years ahead?

I hope that based on all we are currently experiencing, from a political standpoint, we understand and insist on requiring all school districts to put Civics back in the schools. Also, it is important to make sure our state unemployment systems are constantly updated so in the event of another pandemic or crisis, our systems can keep up.

What sets York County apart from communities across the commonwealth?

Our physical location that is convenient to any and all leisure and cultural interests.

The name York represents long lasting notoriety in the fact that York Barbell products are shipped all over the world as are York peppermint patties (although they are no longer made in York, they still carry the name).  In addition, we are noted for York air conditioners. York is an international brand and our people embody that quality.

For those small business owners or residents who are concerned about their financial outlook, what is something you would like to work towards to help the economy recover?

    • Increase the minimum wage.
    • Make sure our workforce development is sustainable. We must assure that workers are prepared to do the jobs that are still vacant due to lack of qualified and trained personnel.  Putting people to and back to work reduces unemployment and encourages dollars to be invested back in the community.

What leisure activity or new hobby have you found yourself doing more of throughout this time of social distancing?

Gardening, cooking (using the fare from the garden) and landscaping.
